Bird babies, Brian and a Hummingbird Moth
I couldn’t end this newsletter without mentioning our latest wildlife encounters! Firstly, we have two resident bird families making nests in the perennial house – a pair of Chipping Sparrows hatched 4 eggs in the Delphiniums and raised the youngsters. They flew away one by one last Monday. The other nest in the Astilbes we think belongs to a pair of House Sparrows and the 5 youngsters were a little later hatching out. They are still there, growing stronger every day. On a hanging basket last week we spotted a Hummingbird Moth taking a break. These moths are very cool! Finally, if you haven’t met Brian, our rescue kitten yet, ask one of our kids to show him off! He needed a home and he’s been bringing much needed joy and distraction into an otherwise busy and crazy time of year in our house!
